Municipality replaces ageing pipelines to improve Madadeni water supply
Ageing infrastructure in Madadeni gets an upgrade.
Newcastle Municipality says it has been undertaking a critical intervention to rectify the persistent water supply challenges that have been a major concern for residents in Madadeni and Blaaubosch.
According to municipal spokesperson Musa Ngcobo, as part of this intervention, the municipality’s Technical Services team last week conducted essential infrastructure work, which included the replacement of aged and deteriorated pipelines with new infrastructure.

“The replacement of the old pipeline is a necessary and proactive measure aimed at resolving recurring water disruptions, improving water pressure, and ensuring long-term reliability and sustainability of water supply to the affected communities,” he said.
Due to the nature of the work, Ngcobo said that water supply in parts of Madadeni and Blaaubosch had been temporarily interrupted.
The municipality further wished to assure residents that every effort was being made to expedite the completion of the work and to restore water supply within the shortest possible timeframe.
The municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused and said they appreciated the patience and co-operation of affected residents.
