SASSA to review November social grant payment
The review follows the announcement that the Local Government Elections will take place on November 4, 2026.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that it is reviewing its November 2026 social grant payment arrangements following the scheduling of the Local Government Elections for November 4.
The agency said the review is intended to ensure that social grant beneficiaries continue to receive their payments at the appropriate time and place during the election period.
November grant payment dates under review
SASSA had previously announced its payment schedule for the 2026/2027 financial year following approval by National Treasury.
Under the original schedule, the Older Persons Grant was set to be paid from November 3, 2026, followed by the Disabled Grant on November 4, and the Children’s Grant on November 5. November 6 was scheduled as the fourth payment day for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.
However, the agency said these arrangements are now being reconsidered in light of the upcoming elections.
Local Government Elections affect payment arrangements
The election date overlaps with the previous schedule’s Disability Grant payment day. SASSA said it will consult with the relevant stakeholders before finalising and announcing revised payment arrangements for November.
Beneficiaries are therefore advised to wait for an official announcement from SASSA regarding any changes in the payment schedule.
SASSA to announce review schedule
SASSA said the new payment arrangements will be communicated once the consultation process has been completed.
The revised November payment dates will be important for beneficiaries who rely on social grants and may be affected by changes to the original schedule.
