VHS proud of 96.2% matric pass rate

The Vryheid High School (VHS) class of 2023 has made the school and the entire community of Vryheid proud as they achieved a 96.2% pass rate. Headmistress A Nel exclaimed that this has been the highest pass rate in many years. A total of 131 candidates wrote, 86 passed with university exemption and 111 distinctions were obtained. The top 10 learners are as follows: Faria Paruk, Nomvelo Zungu, Alwande Ndebele, Sibongakonke Ntshangagse, Siphokazi Zulu, Alwande Hlabisa, Phambili Xulu, Onke Zulu and Amahle Khoza. Ms Nel also highlighted the vital role played by educators in ensuring that such commendable results were achieved.

Faria Paruk was the dux learner for 2023.
From Grade 8, Faria has always demonstrated commendable industriousness in her academics. She has remained the top academic achiever over the respective years (2019-2023). VHS was delighted and very proud to learn that she is the dux learner for 2023. Faria received the dux trophy on Monday, January 22. She achieved five As and two Bs. She was given an opportunity to share her secrets to success in academics and also encouraged the other learners to work hard. “Despite hardships, you still have the power to triumph,” she said.
