Grade 7 learners of Simanganyawo Primary School recently celebrated Career Day as part of their Life Orientation programme, which includes a section on the World of Work prescribed by the Department of Education.

MP Mtshali and NL Buthelezi invited guest speakers from various government departments to inspire learners and provide guidance on different career paths, entry requirements, subjects, and opportunities.
The main aim of the day was to help learners make informed decisions about their future careers.
They learned where to study and which subjects are necessary for the careers they are interested in.
As experts in their fields, the speakers shared practical insights:
- Miss Gugu Mkhaliphi from the Department of Agriculture brought spinach and onions to show learners that a career in agriculture is achievable.
- Nombuso Jele from the Department of Justice explained the different types of lawyers and the studies required for each path.
- Mr Mdlalose from the Department of Health discussed the importance of circumcisions, while Mr Sibiya explained the requirements and expectations for becoming a nurse.
- Mr Mdumbe from the Department of Fire described their work, responsibilities during incidents, and taught learners safety measures.
- A SAPS officer also shared career insights and guidance for aspiring officers.
To bring their career aspirations to life, Grade 7 learners performed a drama dressed in costumes representing their chosen careers, with teachers joining in to support them by wearing attire matching different career paths.
