Mr Govender bids farewell after 18 years at Newcastle High

Newcastle High School honoured Mr Govender as he begins a new chapter after nearly two decades as principal.

Newcastle High School said a bitter-sweet farewell to an integral part of its daily life today (June 25).

For the past 18 years, Mr Manuel Govender has served as the school’s principal.

Today marked his final assembly before he embarks on a new venture in Cape Town.

School community celebrates lasting legacy

Not a single dry eye was seen as the school celebrated Mr Govender and the impact he has made over nearly two decades.

Learners and staff members took to the podium to share heartfelt stories and reflect on the journeys they experienced under his leadership.

The formalities were followed by a final farewell, with Mr Govender ringing the school bell for the last time.

New chapter begins in Cape Town

The Newcastle Advertiser wishes Mr Govender all the best as he takes on his new role as Chief Education Specialist (Circuit Manager) within the Metro North Education District of the Western Cape Education Department.
