On Friday (July 31), Steadville Secondary School’s Grade 8 learners brought creativity to life during Creative Arts – Recycled Costumes and Face Masks Day. The exciting event celebrated the learners’ artistic talents through imaginative costumes and face masks made from recycled materials, highlighting the importance of creativity, sustainability and self-expression.

The day began with a vibrant costume parade, where learners confidently showed off their unique recycled designs. Each costume reflected originality, careful planning and a commitment to transforming everyday recyclable materials into impressive works of art.

Drama and dance take centre stage

Following the parade, the children completed their Term 3 Formal Drama Assessment, demonstrating their acting skills while incorporating their creative costumes and face masks into their performances. The assessments highlighted their confidence, teamwork and storytelling abilities.

The celebration ended with an energetic dance showcase, where pupils entertained the audience with lively performances that reflected the spirit of creativity and collaboration developed throughout the Creative Arts programme.

Recognising excellence and dedication

The success of the event was made possible through the dedication and hard work of the Creative Arts educators. Special appreciation goes to school principal Mr SJ Nkabinde, Miss N Mavundla, Miss L Thabethe, Miss PD Sibiya, Miss NC Majola and HOD Mrs PK Shezi for their guidance, encouragement and commitment to nurturing artistic talents.
