The Play Nation Business League took place on Wednesday last week at Mojos Astro courts.

Several business-sponsored soccer teams took to the astro field to battle it out and see who would come out on top.

At the end of the evening, the scores were tallied, with the results as follows:

• City of Refuge drew 2-2 with NN Auction;
• Polar FC won 7-1 against Kwa Elias;
• Labola Kings won 3-2 against Zukwini Transport;
• Aura won 6-2 against Pedros FC.

Play Nation expands its sporting offering

Play Nation Events is a community sports initiative founded by three local individuals with a shared passion for organised, competitive sport.

The initiative focuses on creating professional, well-structured sporting opportunities that bring together players, businesses and communities.

Its first Saturday football tournament took place on November 22 last year, followed by its second tournament on May 2 this year.

Play Nation Events has now expanded into a structured league competition.

Its sporting focus is currently football, with plans to grow into padel and additional sporting events.

The current Business Football League started on August 19 and will run every Wednesday evening until October 28.

There are currently 12 business teams participating in a round-robin league format, followed by knock-out play-offs to determine the overall winner.

The league aims to bring businesses and players together through competition, teamwork, networking and community engagement.

It is about more than football

The league creates an opportunity for businesses and employees to connect outside the workplace, build relationships, promote teamwork and participate in a professionally organised sporting competition.

The organisation’s vision is to ‘Build the Future of Community Sport’ by creating competitive, accessible and professionally managed leagues and tournaments.

Future plans include expanding its football leagues and tournaments, as well as introducing and growing its padel competitions.

Play Nation Events also aims to create more opportunities for local businesses and players while building a recognised sporting platform that connects teams, businesses and communities.
