Editor – Re: To a brave Public Safety team.
It is never too late to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Community Services, and in particular Public Safety Protection Officers LC Fourie, P Mtshali, J van der Merwe, OJ Maritz, E Dladla, MC Madonsela, Assistant Manager Fire BJ Strydom, Superintendents MD Viljoen and TJ Hlatshwayo, Control Room Attendant N Ndaba and the ‘working on fire’ team (as well as other officers whose names we have mistakenly omitted) for their efficient and tremendous bravery in extinguishing the fierce fire that swept through the building in Kandahar Avenue on December 30 and 31.
These officers fought without rest to extinguish the fire from midnight to the early hours of the morning.
It is indeed an honour for Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality and the town of Ladysmith to have these loyal officers of such high calibre at our disposal, who risk their lives to go the extra mile for the community in any difficult and unforeseen situation.
Once again, a big thank you to all of you. May God bless you and may He continue to give you the strength, courage and ability to serve humanity. Ladysmith can certainly be proud of you!
We also take this opportunity to thank Ladysmith police, Shiraz and Zaheer Allijan, as well as all our friends and family for their support and kind words of encouragement during our difficult time.
