SPCA Corner

Last week the SPCA article mentioned that the South African National Council of SPCAs has guidelines, based on the Animal Protection Act, on how animals should be cared for (from a physical perspective). Ideally pets will be cared for from an emotional perspective as well, by spending quality time with their owners.
Minimum requirements: Animals must receive food twice a day, and must have access to clean water at all times. Dogs must be on a running lead if they are tied up, of sufficient length to allow them to exercise and move around freely. Animals kept in cages must also have space to move freely, and the cage should not be overcrowded. Animals must have shelter from the elements, such as a kennel, and they must be cool in summer and warm in winter. The animal’s area must be cleaned daily, and there should be no sharp or protruding objects that could cause injuries within reach.
For adoption
There is an adult female Husky available to a good home, as well as a Yorkie X Schnauzer.
There are kittens in the kennels as well – white, tabby, grey/white and many more – come and see!

Winter on the way
Please keep in mind that the colder months are around the corner, and your pets who live outside will need blankets, shelter, etc.
Blankets donated to the SPCA will also be much appreciated.
