Unfinished pools and empty promises

Madam – About four years ago the mayor promised that a swimming pool was to be built in that year costing R1-million, to big shouts and cheers from the people.

This did not happen and the next year the mayor again promised that a swimming pool was to be built at Madadeni, again to big shouts and cheers from the people.

After the write-ups in the Advertiser it seems like a contractor was appointed to build the promised swimming pool but because of bad management and big mistakes and bungling, the contractor was fired and the swimming pool had to take a back seat again after big amounts of money were wasted.

Last week I read the letter from a reader in the Advertiser. I see that the mayor at his budget meeting said that the swimming pool was finished. I agree with the writer that the pool is far from finished and the mayor is wrong in saying again in said letter that the swimming pool is complete.

Can the Advertiser please go to the swimming pool to take photos to show the pool is not finished?

The project started in 2012. Yes, we did have hiccups because it’s the first of its kind and also in a township. Project date to be completed 1 May 2014. I have no comment for the drivel stated in the letter.
