Dogs that attack must be put down

Once a dog has attacked somebody, chances are they will do it again, and this is so dangerous if a child is involved

Editor – It is my opinion that dogs that attack people should be put down as soon as possible.

Once a dog has attacked somebody, chances are they will do it again, and this is so dangerous if a child is involved. The child could be killed!

I have read many newspaper articles about incidents in Ladysmith and the surrounding areas where dogs have attacked children for apparently no reason.

The animal is shouted at by the owners and then left to play in the yard once again, while the poor child is scarred for life.

Not to mention the danger of rabies if the dog happens to be infected.

Many of us are frightened to take a walk in our neighbourhoods for fear that someone has left their gate wide open and a vicious dog may charge out and sink its teeth into us.

I do love animals, believe me, but I also believe that for the sake of our children’s well-being and safety, dogs that have a taste for human blood should be put down.
