Madam – Time to be proud!

I sometimes wonder if the residents of Newcastle know they can be taken to court for defamation of character regarding posts they make on Facebook and specially, “Newcastle Classifieds”.

It is sad to see that people think that they now have a medium to say whatever they want to because it is their right. Facebook has become a medium of “whining and moaning”.

Come Newcastle! We are not on that level. The past few months the mayor and his administration took a lot of blame for electricity that is too expensive. They took the blame for a office block which will be a one-stop shop for all municipal issues. This is something that should have happened 10 years ago, but nobody had the vision.

The mayor and his administration have done more for the people of Newcastle than any other predecessors. Let’s stop being spoiled brats and smell the roses.

We live in the third fastest growing town in South Africa. We live in one of the cleanest towns in South Africa. We live in a town where you do not find potholes in your neighbourhood. We live in a town where the mayor is involved in his community. We live in one of the best run municipalities in South Africa.

If you disagree with me, then I challenge you to move to Vryheid, Ladysmith, Estcourt or any other town. You will move back to Newcastle in less than a week.

Why must we always complain ? Why must we always see the wrong first? Why must we always be negative? Let’s not only be proud to live in Newcastle, but also enjoy our lovely town. Next month our electricity bills are R1000 cheaper and our water R500 more, but remember – it is beter to have a leader you know than the one you don’t know.

Newcastle and the people who live here – I salute each and everyone of you because without you our city would not have been such a great place to live in.

Cheese Boy Greetings
