A great thank you to Councillor Rehman and the staff of the municipality

Madam – As I was watching news on the television I, once again realised how privileged we are to live in Newcastle.

We complain so easily that we pay too much for water and electricity, that a robot is not fixed in time after a motor accident, etc, but at least we always have these facilities. Not once our town or, for that matter, a suburb, is without water for a period longer than what it takes to fix a broken water pipe.

Even when maintenance jobs are done we get notice in advance. We even get nice strong black bags from time to time and garbage is promptly removed (even on public holidays).

It is also the first time in quite a few years that I know who the mayor is and even more. I have also seen his wife. He (and from time to time his wife with him) is involved in happenings in town. And, at least, for once we can again see what our hard earned money is being used for.

A great thank you to Councillor Rehman and the staff of the municipality for everything you do to make us comfortable in, and proud of, our town, Newcastle.
