Optimist encourages positive life choices

If you fail today, God always gives a new day, a new faith, and a new zeal to succeed!

Madam – I would not like to sound like a pessimist, but we are all aware that we are living during very trying times indeed!

Some parts of our land are still reeling under the effects of the recent drought, (thank God we had some wonderful rains in and around Newcastle recently) the budget speech was not all that favourable to our financial situation, the Rand is to lose some value again, politicians are scrambling for personal wealth and status, while our economy is in dire need of a dramatic boost, if we want to see a prosperous future for us and our children.

Understandably, families are finding it harder to put three meals on the table, our youth are finding it ever so challenging to find jobs, and the very fabric that keeps families together, is being challenged!

My encouragement to all and sundry is that we must ‘hang in there’. Weeping may endure for the night, (and sometimes the night seems so long!) but joy comes in the morning, although there seems to be no sign of the approaching dawn of relief!

We are more resilient and stronger than we realise!

Never give in or yield to the spirit of suicide, no matter what challenges you face! If you take your life for not being able to find work and provide for your family, how would that solve the problem?

Your grieving loved ones would be left with a much bigger challenge to survive! If you decide to ‘end it all’ because your spouse is cheating on you, how would that change the situation? By taking your life and removing yourself, the other parties will be free to continue their affair anyway.

Young people must realise they have their whole life ahead of them; it is absolutely foolish to take your life because your girlfriend/boyfriend has let you down.

After you have wept and cried, pick yourself up, Granted, you are broken, and your whole world has fallen apart, you feel no reason to go on, but always remember that others have also been on that road before and survived!

So can you! Life always offers you a new chapter, and you will look back one day with triumph at the battles that you have fought and won! Study hard, always aim higher, but if you don’t achieve distinctions and accolades as others do, perhaps your calling lies elsewhere.

Find it and pursue it. If you fail today, God always gives a new day, a new faith, and a new zeal to succeed!

You can make it!
