Ruan van Staden and Sheldon Pienaar are to be applauded.
I read about their bravery in last week’s Newcastle Advertiser and was impressed with their deeds.
In an era where most teenagers are self-absorbed, it is refreshing to see youngsters who will step up in the face of crime and say no.
While they could have been hurt, I believe their guardian angels truly wanted the community to see how important it was to react quickly when a crime was being committed.
Through their actions, two criminals are behind bars and Newcastle is a safer place for it.
Well done boys! Ruan and Sheldon, you are both examples of how teenagers should be.
Instead of playing video games or worrying about the latest trend, these boys thought about others.
