I live in hope every time I send a CV out

I live in hope every time I send a CV out. Hope that I will be called for an interview, hope that someone will invite me for an interview, but no one even responds.

Madam

I would like to share my story with you.

My family and I moved to Utrecht/Newcastle about a year ago after being retrenched in Ermelo/Middelburg (Mpumalanga).

We were promised work, but unfortunately it did not materialise. My dad and I have applied for hundreds of jobs between the two of us that were advertised in the newspapers, and of all these CVs that have been sent out and dropped off at the companies that advertised, we had three interviews.

My dad is well qualified in the mining industry/safety, as well as security, I have qualifications and experience in debtors and creditors/admin/reception et cetera.

When I started working quite a few years ago, when one applied for a job you almost always were called for an interview and if your application was unsuccessful, they would notify you by telling you that you are over or under qualified, your age is a problem or something to that effect; at least one knew that you shouldn’t get your hopes up.

When you apply for a job now there is no communication. I understand that I might not be qualified for every single job, but I can’t think that I don’t qualify for any of the jobs advertised. If I don’t qualify, why can’t they simply notify me what the problem might be?

I am a mother and I need to take care of my little one, and my dad has my mom to take care of. We don’t want charity. We want to earn our keep, but how does one do so if you don’t know what is wrong with your application? I know there are hundreds of applicants, but I feel at least the companies (employers) can let one know if you are unsuccessful.

I live in hope every time I send a CV out. Hope that I will be called for an interview, hope that someone will invite me for an interview, but no one even responds.

I think there are quite a few people who feel the same; hopeful that someone will call you for an interview so they can just see who you are, and if they are not interested, then they can let you know.

Just a chance at an interview will make a welcome change.
