Editor – Having resided in Ladysmith for 40 years, it saddens me to highlight the shortcomings of our local municipality.
The issue that frustrates me the most is that my mum, up until this day, is waiting for the title deed of her property.
I recall a year or two ago, local attorneys were given various title deeds and some residents received theirs, while others were sidelined and are waiting to be notified to collect. What has happened to the outstanding title deeds?
Is the municipality sidetracked and have they forgotten about us?
The idea of us wanting to better our living conditions by renovating our home has to be put on hold due to our lovely municipality. Besides the fact of wanting to better our living conditions, if I had to pass away, wouldn’t this complicate matters with my loved ones. However, if we default by not complying with the law, then municipal officials will be fast to penalise us with hefty fines. It would be nice for us to be given what’s due to us. After all, we are ratepayers.
