Madam –
It is so frustrating when people in the workplace don’t know how to behave in a professional manner.
Clashing personalities result in anger, and often times things are said that should have stayed.
When defending ourselves or our behaviour, insults roll off the tongue like every-day conversation.
In my experience as a ‘horrible boss’, I have come to realise that you cannot possibly please everyone, and people are bound to fight for what they believe is right.
Often, what they believe to be the ‘honest truth’ is anything but.
Here are a few tips to deal with clashing personalities:
– Your way is not always the right way, and your personality is not necessarily the “normal” one.
– Accept that people have different perspectives. All are valid.
– Different personalities, if handled correctly, can strengthen a team by contributing different ideas and solutions.
– When personality conflicts have reached the point where they interfere with the ability to work, it is necessary to deal with them.
– Workplace conflict is a reality we cannot avoid or ignore.

There’s no point in throwing people under the bus, and expecting them to treat you like a long-lost friend afterwards.
Life is hard, and how you react to difficult situations is the true test.
It all boils down to taking responsibility and manning up!
