Editor – I would like to address a matter of concern regarding the misuse of emergency services.
This past weekend was the Easter weekend and like everybody knows, the roads were extremely busy.
Despite people knowing that emergency services are used for an emergency, we have bored individuals who have nothing better to do with their lives than to make hoax calls.
To the ones who are guilty of such behaviour, in my eyes you are nothing but a coward and selfish.
What you fail to realise is that by misusing services that respond to a hoax case, you are wasting resources and the chance of saving someone else’s life that may be in need of an emergency service.
Be it SAPS, Public Safety, Fire Department, RTI or ambulance services, these guys are dedicated in their duties and have sworn an oath to save people’s lives.
Let’s not forget that they sacrifice their family time to protect and save another member of some family.
My advice to those who are guilty of such behaviour, you need to get a life.
Clearly, by acting this way, you certainly don’t have anything better to do!
To the brave men and women in the emergency services field, I salute you!
Do not let individuals behaving like children demotivate you – keep saving people’s lives.
