Editor – A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with stage 2 cancer.
It is a tragic situation in that she is unemployed and does not have the financial means to seek the necessary treatment.
She went for an appointment at a hospital in PMB and they did nothing for her, literally. All they did was tell her to come back later in the year for another appointment to schedule treatment in 2018. Really?
How much will the cancer have spread by that stage?
Sadly, if something is not done soon, she will lose the battle! She has lost a lot of weight and is so weak these days that she can hardly walk.
Can no one help her or point her in the right direction? Without money, it seems that medical practitioners and institutions simply do not care.
You are just another number and it is a matter of “join the queue and we’ll get to you when we can”, providing you are still alive at that stage. By the time anyone sees to my friend, she will be too weak to handle chemotherapy or radiation, lessening her chances of recovery.
