This is not democracy, but robbery… Coloured townships were designed by the past regime based on the classification board.
Khoisan people are the only Africans that were classified Coloured and this was done forcefully. These townships were designed to demoralise Khoisan people.
A great amount of damage was enforced through these townships aimed at Khoisan classified coloured people. So, these townships destroyed a nation who carries the first nation status of South Africa.
Former coloured townships are unique in that they are different to all others. All other townships did not change the people’s nationality, culture or language and there were no forceful removals, this only happened in coloured townships.
I don’t know what you mean by democracy, while the past has not been corrected. Classified coloured people qualify to place these townships as historical landmarks. The government has not discussed these matters with us.
We need a serious, big Indaba, with government. We own these townships and it is the first step to the right of land ownership.
We were forced out of rural land and forcefully placed into townships by the regime. Now democracy has not done any better. Our townships have been invaded by land grabbers and the foster owner is not offering protection.
The municipality has not taken an interest in protecting our land. Colita has a claim as a historical landmark and awaits the high court. Please respect our claim and history.
We are Africans, we live here and this is our land, we are going nowhere. This matter is also in Parliament. Your history tells a story but our people were here first and we are those descendants. Just stop selling our land. Zaailaager belongs to us, the Khoisan people.
Raymond Trollip
Khoisan Principal Leader
