I've had to ask myself, why someone would endanger their life by walking in traffic, instead of on a pavement

I have noticed a disturbing and dangerous trend amongst pedestrians in Estcourt…they prefer to walk on the road, instead of the pavement.

I’ve had to ask myself, why someone would endanger their life by walking in traffic, instead of on a pavement.

Well, I’ve come up with two possible solutions. Firstly, the pavements in some parts of our town are so damaged that it may seem impossible to walk on them.

Also in some areas, especially residential areas, the grass on the pavements is often long, so this probably prevents pedestrians from using it. Secondly, could it be that some pedestrians just don’t care?

I’ve noticed that in some streets, even when there is a proper pavement to walk on, groups of people prefer to line out across the road and stroll along. In some instances, a driver is given a dirty look for attempting to drive on the road, what should we do?

For drivers, not only are there pedestrians to avoid, there are also a number of potholes and cracks on all roads, so this is a double whammy.
