Madam – Waste Department targets refuse rogues.
This Association noted the article in last week’s Advertiser regarding waste problems in town and what the Municipality is planning to do to discourage littering and dumping, and we wish to thank them for their efforts in doing this.
At the same time we also appeal to the community at large to refrain from dumping because this practise seems to encourage further dumping which then gets out of hand and becomes a major and costly problem to clear up.
On their side, the Municipality should do regular inspections in town and residential areas which includes vacant stands and to immediately act on guilty parties.
No Dumping signs should also be erected in trouble spots.
We note the programme and appeal to the waste section to adhere to this programme and also to keep the pick- up times regular and not erratic as this could probably be one of the reasons why consumers dump household refuse illegally.
