Through the medium of your newspaper, I would like to say to people in Estcourt ‘catch a wake up.’
Some people in this town are content to live in a filthy pigsty. Everywhere you go, whether you’re walking or driving, you will find litter.
Some residents don’t understand what the rubbish bins are there for and just throw their litter anywhere.
All of this adds up and then we find our town looking filthy.
In some recreational parks and open spaces, the litter problem is worse. The problem of dumping is also very evident in Estcourt.
Maybe there should be stricter by-laws and fines for dumping because now people think it is okay to dump anywhere and everywhere. People of Estcourt, this is your town, we have to work together to keep it neat and tidy.
It is not only embarrassing when visitors remark on the state of the town, but it is also very disappointing to see how neglect is creeping into our attitudes and town.
