Letter: A battle with a blocked sewerage system

Madam – A positive story worth sharing.

The past two weeks our townhouse complex was battling with a blocked sewerage system.

After reporting the problem, several attempts were made to fix the problem, but to no avail. However, on Wednesday, 19 July, three “can-do-looking” municipal workers reported at my property.

They were Messrs. Jali, Nongwena, and Nxumalo. Confidently and friendly, they assured me they were not leaving until this obnoxious problem was completely solved. They assessed the situation, found the blockage in no time and took control of the situation.

They went about their reeky job professionally, without complaining or seeking excuses to leave. Two hours later I was presented with a spotlessly working system.

In sincere gratitude, I salute these three guys, hoping their example will set up a permanent standard for service providers (municipal, government and private) in Newcastle, our gorgeous KZN dwelling.
