Editor – Municipal officials are turning a blind eye to cattle that are illegally grazing and herded at the Klip River pump station, behind the military camp.
If not illegal, maybe the municipality can confirm if the owners are paying to lease the grazing? Daily from about 2pm, these cattle make their way from the Klip River to Van Riebeeck Park or through Lions Park to Hospital Park residential area…
Wandering up Soldiers Way and into surrounding roads, eating every plant they see, damaging verges, garden fences and gates.
Last weekend, the cattle spent the entire weekend in Hospital Park, sleeping on the verge between Soldiers Way and the military camp. Complaints were received of dogs barking all day and night at the cattle.
I have had reports from residents who phoned Public Safety on numerous occasions regarding the cattle. There has been no positive action from senior officials. It would seem as if they are protecting the owners of these cattle.
Residents are so frustrated that officials are not implementing the municipal bylaws.
