LETTER: Let’s not the deck the halls with tinsel and holly

Honestly, I might sound like Scrooge, but I think the whole Christmas thing is overrated and merely a consumer driven exercise.

Madam – Where has this year gone to? I can’t believe it is already halfway through October.

But what grates me is all the Christmas decorations that are being hung in stores already. Why do stores feel the need to start hanging up tinsel, erecting Christmas Trees and the like, within the first week of October?

Come on people, we are still two months away!

I could understand Diwali and Halloween decorations being erected in town, after all, these two celebrations do actually take place in October.

Honestly, I might sound like Scrooge, but I think the whole Christmas thing is overrated and merely a consumer driven exercise.

Let’s actually focus on more important, like doing community work and breaking away from a materialistic lifestyle.
