Editor – With reference to an article called ‘Our town in a “sorry state of affairs”?’ in your January 26 edition on page 2. With regards to the article, I agree that Ladysmith is very unkempt and not what it was years ago.
Looking around town at our streets, you can see that papers are everywhere and the situation is becoming unbearable.
It reflects badly on us as a town, as it shows we have no pride in Ladysmith or our fellow residents.
The cleaning up and maintaining of grass and other vegetation, along with rubbish in and around town, is the duty of Alfred Duma Local Municipality, yet for years they have been neglecting their duties and forgetting the people who actually inhabit the town.
As a community, we should take this opportunity to now look around us, see the state we are in and come up with practical solutions.
We have the power to do so! Let’s show the pride we have for our town!
