Dear Jabu Mbele and the administration overseeing Estcourt
I am regularly sending messages, written to the local newspaper and sent many photos of this town of ours. It seems like it is all a total waste of time and energy because no one cares. Can you not do the simple things with your almost 1 000 staff.
1. Clear the gutters of mud, grass, weeds, rubble and tar.
2. Clear the mess from underneath all the bridges for free flow of rain water.
3. Fix and retar the roads because we haven’t got anywhere to drive. Also all the sand from all the holes is being washed out.

4. Replace street globes and or fix the lights to brighten our streets to prevent crime in dark places.
5. Keep our town and residential areas litter free. When a bag breaks, pick up the litter, don’t just ignore it and wait for the rains to wash everything down into the river.
6. Your schedule of grass cutting “work in progress”, I haven’t seen any progress. All your grass verges are over grown. I have not seen any work being done.
7. Leaks, water and sewerage have not been attended to.

8. Pavements are not walkable.
9. Replacing of underground electrical cables. Holes were dug up to reach the cables.
No money to purchase cables, hence the closing of the holes and no cable replacement.
10. Refuse being dumped anywhere by tenants of properties. We see it a lot over the railway bridge, Roland Hellet Road, Hellet Road and at the 123 steps off Victoria Street.
11. Drinking in public is ignored.
12. Sex in public is ignored.
13. Urinating in public is ignored.
14. Disobeying traffic rules e.g. going over intersections when the traffic light is red, it is ignored. Motorists and pedestrians lives are endangered.

15. Parking on a solid red line is ignored.
16. Passing over solid lines is ignored. The most dangerous road is Hellet Road from Estcourt High School to the Spar. Blind rise is ignored.
There is just so much more to deal with. I would like to personally meet the administrators and tell them what, we the public, have to live with in this town.

Because I have been told that administrators do nothing but look at the financials and ask why, where and what the money was spent on. That is far too easy because you could be swayed from the truth.
You need to meet with the people in this town, who are paying their rates and taxes and the municipal staff salaries. There is also another expenditure being thrown at us, the rate payers.

Cell phone allowance for every mayor, municipal manager and councillors of R3 400 per month, over and above their salaries. Is that necessary, as I am sure the company land lines are freely used. I trust that I will meet with the administrators sent to Estcourt.
