Madam – It was heartening to read about how the community all got together to help the animals at the SPCA after the storm damaged the property.
We see so much negative news that it was refreshing to know us residents can still unite for a good cause. Animals are among the most innocent of God’s creatures and they do not have a voice to speak for themselves.
Therefore, it is important we, as residents, speak for them and help protect them as well. The SPCA always gets lots of criticism from the community but many people do not realise just how much they actually do on a daily basis.
If you have ever been to the SPCA here then you will see for yourself how well-run the place is and how well looked after the animals there are. A lot of animals there have been abandoned or abused and when they find sanctuary at the SPCA, they are finally shown what love is.
I also want to thank the newspaper for going there and highlighting the animals that need homes every week. I know this helps the organisation home the animals in good homes with loving families and that is such a blessing.
I hope the community of Newcastle can always stand together to make such a wonderful difference in this town. Even a very small act of kindness can have a huge impact on a life, whether it is animal or human.
