Deteriorating roads damage our vehicles

There are numerous streets that have become a hazard to drive on and unless something is done to resurface those roads, instead of just patching here and there, motorists face escalating costs

Editor – Sameera, congratulations on your promotion within the ranks of the Ladysmith Gazette.

As Editor, ma’am, I would urge you to ask your journalists to check, among many other matters of interest, the deterioration of our roads.

I was somewhat surprised at the resurfacing of Berea Road.

Surprised because the contractors ignored the worse condition of Victoria Road and St Augustine Drive.

Admittedly there is a greater volume of traffic in Berea Road, but the pathetic state of the conduit roads demands immediate intervention.

There are numerous streets that have become a hazard to drive on and unless something is done to resurface those roads, instead of just patching here and there, motorists face escalating costs. Driving like dodgem fun cars places pedestrians at risk as well.

Ma’am, you would notice that pavements too are either nonexistent or a hazard to foot traffic as well.

Have you noticed the condition of pavements? They were paid for and initially looked quite attractive, but there too the workmanship leaves much to be desired. It does the image of our town no good.
