Editor – Like most businesses wait for the new financial year to be in place, one can be certain that the municipality is literally counting the days and cannot wait for funds to be allocated to them!
Rumours of the municipality not having enough money to pay salaries, the postponement of the annual Battlefields Festival and the lack of maintenance in town are clear indications that they are a bit cash-strapped.
One would hope and pray that when the new financial year is in place, municipal management learn from their hiccups and have a plan to avoid a repetition of the 2017/2018 financial strain.
What should be on top of their list of things to do is maintenance and repairs to the roads, taking care of the overgrown vegetation that urgently needs attention and the list goes on and on.
People see that their rates are going up all the time and yet service delivery seems to be going in the opposite direction, ie downhill at a rate of knots!
