High octane oval racing

The Newcastle Oval Track was abuzz with high-speed action on Saturday.

After another night of oval racing, the results were as follows:

Rookies division: 1. Tiaan Buys and 2. Ruan Beetge (Volksrust)

1600s: 1. Anthony van der Merwe, 2. JJ Kloppers and 3. Cathleen de Jager

1660s: 1. Andre Greyvenstein (Volksrust), 2. Willie Swart (Loskop) and 3. Anton van Rooyen (Loskop)

Tin Tops: 1. Riekie Snyman (Volksrust), 2. Paul Maritz and 3. Boet Buys

2 Litres: 1. Koos van der Merwe, 2. Pieter Bester and 3. Francois Greyvenstein (Volksrust)

Hot Rods: 1. Koos van der Merwe, 2. Roux van der Colff and 3. Deon van der Merwe

Banger of the night went to Willie Swart (Loskop) and spinner of the night was awarded to Johann de Jager.

The next race is scheduled for this weekend, August 2 in Volksrust, coinciding with the beginning of the club Championship.

The next race meeting at in Newcastle will be on August 30.
