Newcastle Bowling Club recently held their AGM with a healthy number of members in attendance. In his address President Monty Steele thanked his outgoing committee for their sterling work throughout the year.
He also paid tribute to those companies and individuals who assisted with sponsorship, in particular to Alan and Tillie Kirkland of Fedauto, for their continued generous sponsorship.
He congratulated the members of the Club who had done well at District level and encouraged all members to enter District competitions and to support the club with local competitions. He also appealed to all members to comply with the Club’s dress regulations.
The incoming committee for the 2014/15 bowling year was then elected as follows:
President : Monty Steele; Vice President: Koen Pretorius; Secretary: Samantha Shaw. Treasurer: Andy Crosbie; Competition Secretary: Michelle Steele
General Committee : Martin and Trix Baasden, Colin Broderick, Dorothy Crosbie, Sue Hutchinson, Lindsay and Michael McArthur, Trevor Moore, Graeme Robinson, Douglas Steele and Vicky van der Merwe.
The monthly Fedauto meat competition was held last Saturday and despite many members being away attending the District AGM and trials, an excellent turnout of 40 bowlers enjoyed the afternoon.
First prize winners were Rodger Jackets, Trevor Vincent, Piet Reyneke and Michelle Apperley. Second prize was won by Frans Schoon, Anne Wood, Martin Baasden and Alex Zaal.
