Nine of the athletes were awarded for their excellent performances during the Comrades Marathon.
Recogising a year of achievement, Eskom Athletic Club hosted members on November 15 to celebrate their achievements.
Nine of the athletes were awarded for their excellent performances during the Comrades Marathon.
Zipho Ngwenya and Eric Gumede completed their 10th marathon, which earned them the ‘green number’ status.
Rookie runner, Njabulo Mthethwa was the youngest athlete in the club to complete the marathon, and his efforts were rightfully rewarded when his club gave him special recognition for his efforts.
Nothulo Mthimkulu was regarded as one of the most influential and important members of the club and thus was awarded as the Sports Personality of the Year.
Eskom Athletic Club is a fairly new club that only started the beginning of this year. The club has 67 members and their ranks continue to grow.
Currently, the club concentrates on road running, and has participated in Major South African running events.
Runners train weekly. Interested runners are invited to join them.
