Newcastle Bowling Club recently hosted several events.

The popular FedAuto Summer Business League came to an end last Thursday evening with the finals between the sections being played.

The top six places were won by : first – The Pensioners, second – Eschem, third – King Cool, fourth – Andy”s Angels, fifth – Putt Putts, sixth – BMG1.

After a hard battle, NTT Nissan took the honours of ending with the least number of points!

The club extends a huge vote of thanks to FedAuto for the generous sponsorship of raffle meat prizes for each game and to all participants for joining in on this fun event.

The FedAuto meat social held on Saturday afternoon was won by Frans Schoon, Simon Ball and Denise Phillips (eight +six) with Mike Martens, Petro Reyneke and Bert Rodgers (eight + two) finishing second. Although play was curtailed due to bad weather it was enjoyable for all participants.

Alice Howe and Denise Phillips won the Ladies Club Drawn Pairs competition completed on Sunday with Marie Botha and Sandy Fourie finishing as runners up.

A reminder to all members that a turkey competition will be held the morning of the December 16. Players are requested dress up in Christmas colours, but must adhere to the strict flat soled shoe policy.

Play will be followed by a warthog spitbraai with roast lamb also on the menu.

The club will be closed for the Christmas recess and will reopen for play on Saturday January 3, 2015.

Please note that the annual International Day, an event hosted for two decades, has sadly been cancelled due to lack of interest.
