Vryheid Cricket Club – Cricket achievers awarded for last season
Although the cricket was called off, due to the much needed rain, the prizegiving went ahead.
Vryheid Cricket Club started the 2015/2016 season off last weekend with a cricket festival and prizegiving for last season (2014/2015).
Although the cricket was called off, due to the much needed rain, the prizegiving went ahead.
The trophy winners were as follows:
- Rookie of the year – Connor High;
- Fielder – Keegan Meier;
- Bowler – Mohammed Ashgar;
- Batsman – Miguel Machado;
- Player of the year – Miguel Machado;
- Vryheid Festival – Wicket Wasps;
- Twenty/20 – Mr. X;
- 30 over Kingsmead Mynahs Trophy – Wicket Wasps and
- 40 over Kennedy Cricket Trophy – Dumbe.
Well done to all the winners!
Vryheid Cricket Club would also like to thank KZN Bodyworks, as well as Charles Janse van Vuuren, Anna Venter and Herman Gevers for contributing towards a fabulous supper.
We would also like to convey a special thanks to Wayne Bissett and his team from Siyaxhasana Construction for their help with ongoing projects and help to get our field ready for last weekends matches.
Cecil Emmett was also used on Friday and Saturday morning for the u/13 Northern Natal trials. Well done to the boys who made the Northern Natal u/13 team.
The fixtures are as follows:
- Saturday, September 12 – Wicket Wasps vs Dumbe;
- Sunday, September 13 – Mr X vs Gladiators;
- Saturday, September 19 – Dumbe vs Mr X;
- Saturday, September 19 – Gladiators vs Wicket Wasps;
- Sunday, September 20 – Vryheid Game and
- Saturday, September 26 – “Bye all teams” – Long Weekend.
This weekend’s matches are both scheduled to start at 1:30pm.
