Great times on the green

FREEDOM Day at Vryheid Bowling Club saw the green abuzz with activity as sixteen teams took part in the Pick n Pay sponsored Bowls Day.

Teams traveled from Newcastle, Dundee, Pongola last Wednesday to join the Vryheid teams for a beautiful day of fun in the sun and the chance to win some fantastic prizes. A generous sponsorship from Bert-Jan Willemse and his team at Pick n Pay Vryheid, including Hermann and Theo, who joined the enthusiastic bowlers at the club on the day, ensured that each one of the sixteen competing teams received a prize.

“The food table was, as usual, overloaded with tea cakes and sandwiches and a delicious chicken salad made by Cindy van Heusden,” said Margaret Van Heusden. “Jill and her team worked very hard in the kitchen and Estelle, our competition secretary, did a great job with the draw. Thank you to all who brought eats and helped with this very successful day.”

Jan De Lange Thys Calitz and Alex Wood took top spot on the green for the day for Vryheid, as overall winners of the competition.
