The club faced top contender Ladysmith AC in the Knock Out Final at Sandford at the weekend, in a true clash of the heavyweights.
This clash in the Angling Professional League (APL) lived up to the hype.

“There was great anticipation as the anglers awaited the outcome of the zone draw. It seemed most anglers were happy that Zones D and E were chosen as the battlegrounds,” said representatives of the APL.
Catches in Zone D were sporadic at the beginning, while anglers in Zone E had a field day with regular catches.
This allowed Breakwaters to come out all guns blazing.
The team scored 125 points in total, thanks in part to 20 individual points by Kaveer Singh, widely regarded as the day’s star angler.
In reply, Ladysmith fell short with 75 total points.
Breakwaters’ top three anglers for the day were Kaveer (20 points), Matthew Shunmugam and Shakeel Sheik (13 points each).
This has not shifted the title holder picture for the APL.

Current contenders include Yusuf Cassim of Dannhauser AC (Heaviest Scaled Fish), Valentino Murugan of Ladysmith AC (Heaviest Non-Scaled Fish), Abhay Jawair of Stillwaters AC (Junior Angler of the Year), Veruschka Boodhoo of Stillwaters AC (Lady Angler of the Year) and Dan Govinder of Ladysmith AC (Senior Angler of the Year).
Monty Slabbert of Breakwaters AC leads the race to Angler of the Year (53 points).
The season concludes with the first APL Closed Competition, which pits registered APL members against each other in pursuit of lucrative prizes.
Sandford will host this competition on May 6.
The next showdown between Breakwaters AC and Ladysmith AC will be the AA Tours Grand Challenge, to be hosted at Richgate Park on April 15.
