Itec Freespool claims victory in league competition
Fielding a strong contingent of 25 anglers, the club demolished its competitors with a massive tally.
The Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NFWAA) cast off at the Devland Impuphu League 4 after a long holiday break.
Anglers anticipated good catches as the dam levels had picked up after some good rainfall. The overcast conditions were ideal for fishermen after enduring a long spell of hot weather.
Defending champion, Itec Freespool was determined to secure a win, which would ensure it put one hand on the
championship trophy. Fielding a strong contingent of 25 anglers, the club demolished its competitors by scoring a massive 111 points on the day.
The ever improving Endumeni AC of Glencoe secured 48 points and settled for second position. Chelmsford AC ended with 38 points, closely followed by Riverside AC on 34, while Docrats AC brought up the rear with 21 points.
Marcus Davids of Itec Freespool bagged the heaviest carp of the day, weighing 4,490 kilograms and his club mate, Prakesh Krishanlal landed the heaviest barbel, weighing 3,470kg.

Both anglers walked away with a trophy and a R250 voucher from Devland Impuphu. Anglers were ecstatic to see many kurper being caught, as this is one of the rare species at Chelmsford Dam. In total, 23 weighable kurper were caught.
The log standings leave Itec Freespool on top with 40 points, followed by Endumeni (28), Chelmsford (20), Riverside (16) and Docrats (16). The association thanked its sponsor for its continued support.
