Fedauto Ford/Mazda “Volkrust Open” Bowls
The annual Volksrust Open bowls competition for trips teams was held on October 11 and was won by the Volksrust team skipped by Tony de Pooter.
The annual Volksrust Open bowls competition for trips teams was held on October 11 and was won by the Volksrust team skipped by Tony de Pooter.
Tony’s team, consisting of him, Gerhard Smith and John Servulo won all their games and were crowned the 2014 Fedauto Ford/Mazda Volksrust Open champions.
The competitions was attended by visiting teams from Piet Retief, Harrismith, Dundee, Newcastle, Vrede, Bergville, Secunda and Vryheid. Seven Volksrust teams took part.
A big thank you goes to sponsors FEDAUTO Newcastle Ford and Mazda and also to Wesbank that sponsored prizes as well as Kenak PSG Konsult and Lewensvreugde stationary shop Volksrust.
Without these sponsors the competition would not have been possible.
Although the weather didn’t play game at first, the fantastic atmosphere among the participants and the unique format of the competition made up for it. The top ten results of the competition can be found in the sports column.
