Donating towards development

The uniform of a club or team is revered and respected.
It creates unity within a team and makes them seem an imposing force to their opponents.
When a player puts on a uniform to represent a team, it is to uphold the legacy of the team and to support one’s team mates.
Phoenix cricket team was blessed this week when VIP Lubes CC donated a brand new kit to the team.
“We’ve always loved playing and watching cricket. We decided we needed to give back to the community, and help out our local teams. Phoenix is developing young players, and we thought we could help them out with this donation,” said VIP Lubes CC representative, Tanya Louw.
She challenged other businesses to also take up the responsibility of helping and developing local sports and encouraged the community to watch the weekly league games.
“There is so much talent in Newcastle. If we aren’t encouraging the development of players both young and old, sports will die. Visit the games, and show the players your support. Cricket is a wonderful spectator sport, and will really push the players to bring out their best.”
Phoenix captain, Graham Sharpe thanked the company for the donation.
“Donations like this really picks up the team’s morale. We are motivated to play even better now. It’ll be really great if other businesses follow in these footsteps and make donations to local teams to help grow the sport,” he said.
