Vryheid Squash Club – World Cup winners announced
The Winter League has also started and the first results should be available next week. The teams have the name of a piece of winter clothing, so it will be interesting to see what piece of clothing is the most effective at keeping the cold out until the league is completed at the end of June. The results of the Squash World Cup are known.
As in this year’s Cricket World Cup, Australia are the champions of the Squash World Cup. Congratulations to the Australian team: Alistair James; Donovan Hartslief; Pottie Potgieter; Byron van Eeden and Cjaane Hartslief.
The final standings of the teams was as follows: Australia 80; West Indies 77; Pakistan 71; Sri Lanka 70; Bangladesh 66; England 64; India 44 and New Zealand 42.
Well done to the committee who organized a very successful World Cup prizegiving and Winter League draw. Thank you to all the members who attended.

Next week the Beanies will be taking on the Slippers, the Thermals vs the Mittens, Scarves vs Earmuffs and Boots vs Jackets.
