Vryheid Mountainbiking Club – Winners on wheels
Locally, six of our cyclists took part in the 50km Elephant Big 5 event in Richard's Bay on Sunday and set up good times on the relatively flat event.
VRYHEID’s Mountainbiking Club once again participated in two events over the weekend.
In the Nedbank Swaziland Imvelo MTB classic, Zauco van den Berg (3:55), Everette Haywood (4:07), Sandra Haywood (4:07) and Flip Krugel (4:55) all did extremely well in a very technical 67km event that climbed nearly 2 000 meters. Sandra managed to retain her title, winning the event for the third time in a row. Zauco also won the veteran category.

The participants were: Riaan Swanepoel (2:18); Marius van Eden (2:40); Lize Swanepoel (second veteran) (2:43), Elize van Eden and Carl and Heidi Davel. Carl and Heidi’s two sons also participated in the smaller events.
