Finding it difficult to score

‘Nearest the Pin’ winners were Carla Craffert and Jan Pretorius

Monday’s golf competition was played as a Greensomes Stableford event, and it was quite interesting to see how some couples found it very difficult to score and yet others managed quite well.

Not surprisingly, it was the regular league golfers who came tops in the end, because this format is played (although slightly differently) as ‘foursomes’ when the league sides meet.

Two couples scored 36 points and could not be separated by a count-out, so they decided to share the spoils and call it a “one tie all tie” result. Wayne Bentley and Gerhard van der Westhuizen shared the first prize with Corné Stevens and Enrico Bozza.

Third place on 35 points went to Jan Pretorius and Leon Steenkamp.

‘Nearest the Pin’ winners were Carla Craffert and Jan Pretorius.

Thanks to Steve Dixon for the arrangements of this competition, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. This Saturday is the third round of the Mortimer Toyota League and will be a ‘shotgun start’ at 12.30pm.

Team captains are to kindly report to Wayne by 12pm to do the ‘draw’ for opponents and tees.

The Mick’s Rules finals will be played on Sunday, and we look forward to a full turnout and for all to stay after prize-giving for a social braai.

Our sincere condolences to Mike Lindsay and family on the passing of Bridget.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

The club’s annual general meeting will be on Thursday, August 27, at 5.45pm.
