Good start for Dundee league golfers

The opening round of the men’s 2016 league games were played on Sunday with three of the four Dundee teams being victorious.

On Saturday the Dundee Pre-Primary School held their fund raising golf day at Dundee Country Club which drew a great field of 76 players. Winning the 4 BBBS competition was the pairing of Mareza Ackerman and Jane McKenzie on 50 points and each of them walking away a wonderful bar fridge for their achievement. Hesmarie Bester and her partner Mel Janse Van Rensburg were able to count out Barry Sandy and Walter Du Plessis, both pairings scoring 49 points, to finish in second place and the latter in third place. Sifiso Kunene and John Zulu came in fourth place on 48 points. The novelty prizes for nearest the pin were won by K. Roets on hole no.4, K. Van Tonder on hole no.8 with Walter Du Plessis picking up the prizes for both holes no.12 and 16. The longest drive prize for men went to Wyand Ackerman and Hesmarie Bester won the ladies prize.

The A team went down 6-12 to Newcastle while the B1 team were easy 15-3 winners over Glencoe, the B2 team beat Newcastle 11-7 and the Frog team were also victorious over Newcastle, winning their match 4-2.
Dates to diarise: May 22, The Monthly Mug medal competition. Sat 29 May, Dundee Hockey Club Golf Day. Golfers are advised that on the last Friday of every month there will be a 10 Hole Cross Country golf organised, so diarise May 28 when Debs Embroidery sponsors the event, so come and take on this challenge.
