The pinnacle of martial arts

The KwaZulu-Natal Karate Championships took place in Pinetown on April 30.

The 19 participants from the Newcastle dojo who competed, all ended with outstanding achievements and medals to boot.

They are:

Abigail Skinner – bronze in kumite.

Abongwe Mntambo – silver in kumite and bronze in kata.

Aneke Grundling – silvers in both kata and kumite.

Angus Burns – bronzes in both kata and kumite.

Anthony van der Watt – golds in both kata and kumite.

Cassidy Steenkamp – bronze in kumite and fourth place in kata.

Charles Kemp – silvers in both kata and kumite.

Jaydene Naidoo – bronze in kumite and fourth place in kata.

Kyle du Plessis – gold in kata and silver in kumite.

Lindokuhle Mkhasibe – gold in kumite.

Marko Swart – silvers in both kumite and kata.

Mthunzi Mbatha – gold in kumite and fourth place in kata.

Musa Ndlovu – silver in kumite.

Nathan Kemp – silvers in both kata and kumite.

Sameeah Goolam – golds in both kumite and kata.

Shaugne van der Watt – gold in kata.

Shuaib Goolam – silvers in both kata and kumite.

Trishique Hurriram Ramsamooj – bronzes in both kumite and kata.

Xean Rothman – golds in both kumite and kata.

All the aforementioned karateka will represent the provincial JKA body at the South African National JKA Championships this weekend.
