The South African President’s Wrestling Championships were last month hosted in the big top arena at the Carnival City casino. KZN was represented by nine of their best fighters. Wrestlers competed in freestyle and in the Greco-Roman style wrestling.

The Natal team won one gold, four silver and two bronze medals. Edrich Nortje won the only gold medal in the 54kg freestyle. This was his eighth national title. With a classy performance of skillful aggressive wrestling, he managed to outclass his much-fancied opponents. The local club had four representatives in the KZN team.

These four boys proved their mettle.
