Legendary old dogs to take on the rugby puppies

It’s got the town talking… A challenge has been made by former Bulldogs rugby club players to the current Clover Leaf Bulldogs rugby team as to whether they are as good as they think they are.

Former Bulldogs players have decided to come out of retirement to form a so-called Bulldogs Legends team in an attempt to show their younger counterparts that the old dogs haven’t lost their mojo and can still keep up with the youngsters.

The legends have been hard at work during the last couple of weeks in preparing themselves to take on the new dogs and are taking this week’s game as serious as a World Cup final.

It has been reported that some players have already been injured in the run-up to this week’s game, only highlighting the seriousness of this highly-anticipated match.

The new dogs will have to be on top of their game if they want to keep their reputation intact. With the successful year the Bulldogs have had, could the old dogs upset the youngsters?

To highlight the successful season the Clover Leaf Bulldogs have had, the various clubs in the Midlands League were invited this past week to attend the past season’s prize-giving. The Clover Leaf Bulldogs walked away with all the team trophies, taking home the Crowe Cup League Trophy, Hilton Cup and Findlay Cup.

The hard work from players, committee members and the support from our fans was felt throughout the year, and all the accolades were well deserved. Another successful year for the Clover Leaf Bulldogs and we look forward to the New Year and upcoming challenges in 2018.

After all the accolades, there is one more hurdle to manoeuvre. Namely the challenge from the old dogs. Could there be an upset on the cards? Could they be drawing inspiration from Japan when they beat the Springboks in the World Cup?

Please join us this Saturday (October 7) in welcoming back former committee members and players to the current champions of Midlands rugby, the Clover Leaf Bulldogs. Kick-off is at 5pm.

Please support our club in buying all food and drink from the bar and kiosk, as this directly helps the club in supporting our players financially in respect of travel to venues around the province.

This will be the Clover Leaf Bulldogs’ last game of the season. Saturday’s game will surely be filled with laughter, team spirit and fun for all.

Let’s support our home team and previous players, and round up as many supporters as we can to enjoy the season finale against the Ladysmith Bulldog Legends!
