SA open-water national champs make us proud
Keep on training and all the best! I know that we will get some great results from you

At the beginning of a season, 1 May each year, a swimmer must set goals for himself/herself to be achieved at the end of the season.
One of these goals for an open water swimmer is to qualify according to qualification times set by Swimming South Africa at sanctioned events.
As we only have one event in Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZNA Open water champs), our swimmers must travel to other provinces to achieve these times and to get more experience in open water events.
This season, JJ van der Hoogen, Kyle van Vuuren and Anke Fourie achieved one of their goals, to qualify for SA Open water champs.
They arrived in Jeffreys Bay and on Saturday 3rd March set of to Marine Martinique to represent not only their club, but their province.
Well done to our swimmers with their performances in the 3km swim. In the 3km event all ages swim together, but are divided into age groups. Congratulations to JJ who received a bronze medal in the age group 19 – 30 years. On Sunday it was the 5km swim.
In this event we had 51 swimmers competing and saw two top swimmers from Hungary performing excellent swims.
Well done to JJ who had a great performance in this race as well. Thanks to the parents that accompanied the swimmers to Jeffreys Bay.
Heartfelt thanks to all those who send messages of encouragement for our swimmers regularly. Sincere appreciation to the club for their contribution to our swimmers.
To the swimmers, remember it was hard work and dedication that got you here together with the input of your coach. Ivan we acknowledge with pride your dedication, motivation and care that you give to our swimmers.
On 18 March, Miekaeel Amla and Matthew Webb will be going to Durban for the provincial level 1 champs. To these two swimmers and our level swimmers: level 3 – Anke Fourie, level 2 – Kyle van Vuuren, Kara Fourie, Sarah Byrne, Matthew Gerber, Amy Gerber, keep on training and all the best! I know that we will get some great results from you at levels.
